Agriculture has remained in highlights throughout entire history. It contributes to the national economy in terms of production
while it has opened new dimensions in other sectors of economy as well. The
current challenges and threats need a fresh look in the context of changed
environment especially with the emergence of world trade organizations.
The college has
a vision to impart quality education to the weaker sections of society with
a mission of educational empowerment of predominating rural and agrarian
population. The college decided to introduce the Agriculture as an elective
subject for B.A. & B.Sc. students in 2011-12. The main purpose was to introduce the latest technology available in agricultur to
the people. So that they can look towards Agri business as an option. In the year 2015-16
college introduced Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Agriculture (PGDAA).
In the year 2016-17, B.Sc. Agriculture(4
Year professional degree) was started with an intake of 40 students batch.
The college has two well equipped laboratories .
Besides the college has an experimental fields of 10 kanals where students can
perform their practicals. An extra piece of land about five acres has also been
allotted by the management for this purpose. The college library
is well stocked with books estimating more than rupees One lakh. Related
magazines like Changi Kheti and Progressive Farming which provide current
knowledge to the teachers and students.
The main method of teaching is lecture method, with the help of blackboard, charts and models. The
students are asked to prepare the assignments on various topics of agriculture.
The field work is designed to improve their practical skills. The teachers also
update their knowledge by attending orientation, refresher courses, seminars and
by visiting Kisan Melas, forest and fruit nurseries, Apiary and fish farming.
The future plans of
Agriculture Department are to impart knowledge to the students.
The college is planning to set up mushroom cultivation and Vermi Compost units
