Department of Computer Science

          The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 2000 and offers under graduate and post graduate courses . One year post graduate diploma in computer application (PGDCA) in the academic year 2004-05 and Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) was introduced in the year 2009-10 . The department also offers computer application as an elective subject in the three year degree course in Humanities group. Computer Science as an elective subject in Science group. B.C.A/B.A./B.Sc. (Computer Application/ Computer Science) and PGDCA are based on semester system. The department also participates in BA, B.Sc., PGDFD, B.Com, B. Lib. &Inf. Sci., M.Com., M.Sc. (Chemistry) courses offered by other departments. Besides these programmes department had also started Add-On courses in Information and Communication Technology, career oriented programme sponsored by UGC from the session 2014-15.

          The department has well equipped laboratories with computer hardware and software. Internet facility is provided to the staff and students. With the help of this, students of any stream get valuable information related to their subject’s queries and explore their subject’s concepts in detail.

          The department possesses all the latest teaching aids and equipments including multi-media projectors, smart class rooms, coloured laser printer and scanner. Assignments, group discussions, seminars, presentations are organized from time to time.

          Our vision is to offer up-to-date and flexible programmes that will enable our graduates to be competitive in the job market, enable them to get higher education in the top level universities, and to seek productive career in industry, academia and government.

I. Research Projects:

  • Undertook UGC, New Delhi funded Minor Research Project titled, “Printing Press and Development of Punjabi Language, 1849-1919” for the amount of Rs. 1,10,000/ in April 2010.

II. Curriculum Design:

  • Significant contribution in preparing Syllabus for the Under Graduate Course in History as member of Undergraduate Board of Studies in History of Panjab University, Chandigarh for the period 1.4.2009 to 31.3.2013.
