Department of Music (Vocal)

 

          Music (Vocal) Department of Khalsa College Garhdiwala came into existence in August 2009.  Presently Music (Vocal) subject is offered to the students as an elective subject in Under Graduate course. The department posseses all the required instruments for imparting practical and essential knowledge to the students. Harmoniums(One scale changer, one coupler, one simple), Four Tablas, Electronic Tabla, Electronic Tanpura (Two), Manual Tanpuras (Two male and two female), Svarmandal, Santoor, Dholaks, Dhol Two, Duffli, Algoza, Sitar, Sarangi, Bugchoo etc. Computer is available in the Department with the Studio Softwares for the vast knowledge and the scope of the subject. All the books and Magazine “SANGEET” and “Amrit Kirtan” related to the Subject are available in the college library. There are 143 books are in the library. The department has its own ‘sound system’ for the preparation of University Festivals, and Inter college competitions. Prof. Gurpinder Singh prepares the musical Items for University Zonal, Inter-Zonal and Inter-Varsity Festivals and Inter College competitions. Under his training and guidance the team has won the university Youth festival :---

             The students of Music Deptartment Pavitar Singh(Tabla Vadak), Harpreet Singh(Classical Vocal,Gazal) and Dara Singh(Folk Song) Receiving University Colour And Gold Medal From V.C. P.U. Chandigarh for His Participation In Inter-Versity Compitetion Session 2013-14.

          Department of Music participates in every function organized by the college.             

 

          Students of the department participated in “Antakshri” Programme at Doodarshan Kender Jalandhar on February 2012. Prof.Gurpinder Singh’s Religious Song “Kharku”(Title Song) was released in International Market on April 19th 2014 by Revolution Records(www.mr.jatt.com)  and Patriotic Song  Tiranga was released in International Market on Aug. 15th, 2017 By Fresh Records.           Two students of Music department have been selected by ustad Pandit Arvind Parikh (Kirana Gharana) to improve their skill in Music vocal classical. Four Students of Music Deptartment were selected for Master of Performing Art Degree by Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar.  Two students of Music Deptartment are working as Music Directors.  Students of  Deptartment who are performing as professionals are :--

1)      Harpreet Singh Hassrat  Released his 1st  Album “ Love Forever”

2)      Pavitter Singh  Perfoming with “Ustaad Zakir Hussain”

3)      Dara Singh Released his 1st  Album  “One Sided Love”

4)      Atul Kumar  Released his 1st  Album  “Yakeen”

                 The Deptartment had received award for Sincerity, Hard work in the field of Cultural activites in the session of  2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18.The faculty received “Certificate” preformed the duty of  Contigent Incharge of Khalsa College Garhdiwala during the Panjab University Zonal Youth & Heritage Festival of Hoshiarpur Zone ‘B’ held at S.P.N College ‘Mukerian Hsp. From 5-10-2016  to  8-10-2016,  received ‘Dr. M.S. Randhawa’ Award at Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha Memorial book fair by Panjabi vikas manch Hariana, Punjab  and  ,received “Award Of Honour” in the field of services in Music and permotion of Punjabi culture in annual function at Sir Marshal Spors School Bains Awan (Tanda) in Dec.2014.

  • Undertook UGC, New Delhi funded Minor Research Project titled, “Printing Press and Development of Punjabi Language, 1849-1919” for the amount of Rs. 1,10,000/ in April 2010.
