Department of Physics

 

          The Physics Department was established in the year 1966 since the inception of the college. Many qualified and experienced teachers have served the department.

          The department has well equipped laboratory for conducting practicals. The latest addition to the Physics Department is the smart class room to teach the students. The department has an office for study purposes for the faculty members.

          The college has a well stocked library with about 800 books and also have departmental library to help poor and needy students, which are very beneficial to the students and faculty members in acquiring the knowledge of the subject. The new books are added to the library every year. The Journals/ Periodicals subscribed in the college library are Down to Earth Resonance published by Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore and Current Science published by Current Science Association in collaboration with Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore.  

          The Physics department organizes Quiz, Essay Writing competition on the various topics of Science. The department had significantly contributed in the results and many students have been selected in various universities for higher studies. Our students have been selected for various jobs in teaching department, Defense forces and other fields. The department intends to provide more facilities to the students so that they excel in education and to achieve their goals.

  • Undertook UGC, New Delhi funded Minor Research Project titled, “Printing Press and Development of Punjabi Language, 1849-1919” for the amount of Rs. 1,10,000/ in April 2010.

II. Curriculum Design:

  • Significant contribution in preparing Syllabus for the Under Graduate Course in History as member of Undergraduate Board of Studies in History of Panjab University, Chandigarh for the period 1.4.2009 to 31.3.2013.
