Department of Political Science

 

               The department of Political Science was established in 1966 when Khalsa College was established at Garhdiwala. The subject of Political Science was introduced as an elective subject at Under graduate level. Ever since its introduction, the department has come a long way in providing quality education to students in Political Science. Earlier Honours in Political Science was also taught to students. In 2006, M.A. in Political Science was started with efforts from former Head & Professor H.S. Dhami and Professor Jagdeep Kumar of Political Science Department. The P.G. Department of Political Science has achieved great heights in academics and other activities. Two students got passed UGC-NET and working as Assistant Professor in Colleges. Our students also listed in Panjab University’s Examination Topper List. In addition to the teaching-learning engagements, the department also believe in providing the students extension lectures from various scholars to enrich their knowledge. Till now, the department has organised twelve national Seminars on various themes.Seminars are essential part of our education system for grooming and to enhance the knowledge of our students and faculty members. To fulfil this purpose, our PG Department of Political Science has successfully organized several seminars on various topics in which renowned resource persons from different Universities presented their papers

               In addition to Seminars and Conferences, the students also took to various Educational Tours on regular basis Visit of Parliament at New Delhi, Gwallior forts, Taj Mehal at Agra, H.P. University at Shimla, Religiously places of Paonta Sahib, Rishikesh and Haridwar in Uttrakhand. Presently the Department has three regular teacgers, Professor Jagdeep Kumar, Head of Department. Professor Archana Thakur and Dr. Gurpreet Singh Uppal.
