Department of Punjabi

 

Punjabi language and literature as a subject was introduced since the establishment of Khalsa College Garhdiwala since 1966. Earlier it was introduced as an elective subject and honours subject, but when the new educational policy was implemented in 1986, it was made a compulsory subject at degree level. In 2003, Punjabi department was upgraded to Post-Graduate department and M.A-Punjabi was started from the session 2003-04.

There is well qualified staff and due to their hard work the college students had bagged university positions.In the college library there are more than 5000 books of Punjabi language and literature. Around 15 magazines are available in the library.

I. Research Projects:

  • Undertook UGC, New Delhi funded Minor Research Project titled, “Printing Press and Development of Punjabi Language, 1849-1919” for the amount of Rs. 1,10,000/ in April 2010.

II. Curriculum Design:

  • Significant contribution in preparing Syllabus for the Under Graduate Course in History as member of Undergraduate Board of Studies in History of Panjab University, Chandigarh for the period 1.4.2009 to 31.3.2013.
