National Social Service (NSS)

 

The National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) is an Indian government sponsored public service program conducted by ministry of youth affairs. N.S.S. was launched in india in 1969. Its aim was to develop the personality of students through community service. It is a voluntary association of young people in colleges and universities.

Activities of NSS during 2017-18

  1. On 11th August 2017 pledge taking ceremony was organized at college campus in which students take pledge to make India clean, green, poverty free, corruption free.

  2. On 27th September 2017,a blood testing and blood donation camp was organized with the collaboration with HDFC bank. Jathedar Amarjit Singh Chawla, S. Manjit Singh Dasuya and Principal Satwinder Singh Dhillon motivated volunteers to donate blood.
  3. A seven days N.S.S camp (22-12-2017 to28-12-2017) was organized in which 100 students participated and done social work at Govt. High School Baruhi.

  4. Tree Plantation was done by N.S.S volunteers near college campus on 15th Feb. 2018 after cleaning the same area & A rally on environment was organized on the occasion of the birthday of Shri. Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji. This day was celebrated as environment day.
  5. A one day trip of volunteers was organised to Jung-e-Azadi war memorial Kartarpur.

I. Research Projects:

  • Undertook UGC, New Delhi funded Minor Research Project titled, “Printing Press and Development of Punjabi Language, 1849-1919” for the amount of Rs. 1,10,000/ in April 2010.

II. Curriculum Design:

  • Significant contribution in preparing Syllabus for the Under Graduate Course in History as member of Undergraduate Board of Studies in History of Panjab University, Chandigarh for the period 1.4.2009 to 31.3.2013.
