  About the Department:

Khalsa College , Garhdiwala came into existence in 1966, when we all were celebrating the Third Shatabadi of Tenth Guru Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji , Shri Mahant Sewa Dass Ji and Dr. M.S Randhawa took initialize to establish a College with an objective to educate the people of Kandi Area.
Department of History of this College came into the inception of the College in 1966. History is offered as an electing subject at the under graduate level and as a compulsory subject for those students who didn’t pass Punjab Paper at 10th and 12th levels known as HC PC History AND CULTURE OF PUNJAB .
The department has well experienced and highly qualified faculty time to time diligent teaches provide excellent teaching on the basis of syllabus prescribed by Panjab University Chandigarh. The department has its own departmental library for the poor and needy students. On the College library there is sufficient reading material on all fields of history i.e. Ancient Indian History medieval Indian History, Modern Indian History , Punjab History , Biographies of famous Historical personalities. The students are encouraged to enhance their study through assignments , projects, groups discussions and regular class tests their attendance in the class, their performance and participation in presentations/group discussions. Group discussions , creative writing on historical days and historical personalities are the integral part of teaching techniques. Students of history department participate in different-different co-curricular activities and sports i.e.. NCC,NSS , Rea Ribbon Club, Youth Festivals etc. Opportunities for the students is in the field of teaching, Police almost all competitive examinations especially in PPSC/UPSC and Police etc.
