Khalsa College, Garhdiwala commands special prestige among educationalinstitutions in Hoshiarpur. Dr. Mohinder Singh Randhawa (ICS), a visionary scholar, workedtirelessly for the foundation of this college. Following this, the college achieved glory under theblessings of honourable Mahant Sewa Dass ji, Headmaster Kartar Singh Bains, and Sant BabaFateh Singh ji. Under their able guidance, the Undergraduate Department of Political Sciencewas established in 1966 when Khalsa College was established at Garhdiwala. The subject ofPolitical Science was introduced as an elective subject at the Graduate level. Ever since itsintroduction, the department has come a long way in providing quality education to students inPolitical Science. Earlier Honours in Political Science was also taught to students. In 2006, anM.A. in Political Science was started with efforts from former Head & Professor H.S.Dhami and Professor Jagdeep Kumar of the Political Science Department. The P.G. Departmentof Political Science has achieved great heights in academics and other activities. Two studentsgot passed UGC-NET and working as Assistant Professor in Colleges. Our students also listed inPanjab University’s Examination Topper List. In addition to the teaching-learning engagements,the department also believes in providing the students extension lectures from various scholars toenrich their knowledge. Till now, the department has organized various National Seminars and Extension lectures onvarious themes in which eminent Academica’sof repute participated. In addition to Seminars and Conferences, the students also took to variousEducational Tours.
